WIPO’s Director General, Francis Gurry, Issues Statement on Intellectual Property, Innovation, Access and COVID-19
On April 24, 2020, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Francis Gurry, issued a statement entitled ” Some Considerations on Intellectual Property, Innovation, Access and COVID-19.” In the article, he discusses the importance of identifying barriers to access in order to foster innovation and produce a vaccine, treatment, or cure for COVID-19, as well as the benefits of providing some flexibility to accessing, in certain circumstances, creative and cultural content in light of the crisis.
