On March 11, 2015, Prof. Hansen was interviewed on The Chad Hartman Show (830 WCCO – CBS Radio – Minnesota, MN). The radio interview concerned the recent ruling in Williams v. Bridgeport Music, Inc., 2015 WL 4479500 (C.D. Cal. July 14, 2015) i.e. the “Blurred Lines” decision.

On March 10, a California federal jury ordered Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams to pay a total of $7.4 million to the estate of Marvin Gaye for copyright infringement of Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give it Up.”

Prof. Hansen shared his thoughts on the trial, the jury, and the verdict’s potential effects on artists going forward.
